Event: Racin' for the Seed

The Mustard Seed...

If you do not know about the Mustard Seed you are missing out on some major goodness. The Mustard Seed is a place for adults with developmental disabilities and honestly I believe it is a small piece of Heaven! The staff works with each resident or "Seedster" to meet their every need while surrounding them in a loving, Christian community that allows them to thrive and fulfill the potential that God has created within each of them. They create beautiful pieces of art on campus and actually have their very own gift shop where these pieces are available for purchase.

I had the privilege of working at The Mustard Seed for a couple of summers when I was in high school, and I also volunteered with their Fun Friday activities for majority of my college years. The Mustard Seed stole my heart and helped form me into the person that I am today! This is where I first fell in love with the special needs community. This place and these people really impacted my life more than they will ever know.

If you have the opportunity to visit... YOU SHOULD! I promise you will not leave without a smile on your face and a warm hug from one of the many beautiful Seedsters!

Now... Racin' for the Seed is one of their many fundraisers that The Mustard Seed puts on each year. It is a Duathlon and 5k held at Lakeshore Park. It is so cool to see how this event continues to grow each year. This year, I was so blessed to be asked to play a small part in such a fun filled day!

Enjoy some of the highlight images I was able to grab from the event.

To the Staff at The Mustard Seed... Thank you for doing what you do! Thank you for loving this amazing community of exceptional individuals and for working so hard to host such an amazing event to make sure that these individuals continue to have a place to go and an outlet for their creativity! I have not had the pleasure of meeting each of you but I do know that it takes a very special individual to do what you do!!!

Again... Thank you and keep doing what you are doing!
